These Days (with an advance notice of my summer vacation)

These days, we've been getting fog -- lots of it. Every morning, on the hill where I live, gray buffers the sky. The good thing is, it tamps down the heat that's been grilling the better part of the U.S. And also, on most days (not all,) the fog burns off by noon. And as the dense layers of mist dissolve, our fence lizards, Huey, Lady Gaga, Slinky and the new baby dino on the block, Bennie, appear on the rock wall.

August spreads before me like a smorgasbord of undiscovered treats. What will develop, I know not. Just that each day and each breath (even in the midst of crazy, world chaos) is a gift.

***I want to give you a little advance notice of the fact that I'm going to be taking my first break from this blog. It will be a long summer vacation. I know I will miss you greatly, as you, Dear Readers, enrich my life. I also know that I need a revitalizing break. And so, today, I'm airing my regular post, which will be followed some time towards the end of the week, by my last post before vacation.

  1. I'll miss you, Luv. I've become a fan of your writing and photography; both are unique and rather special. I can really identify with you taking a break from the blog, having been there myself recently. Hopefully your circumstances aren't as negative as mine were!! A break to clear the mind and recharge the heart seems just the ticket.

Why not go somewhere that's not so bloody foggy? Take in some sunshine, surf, etc - I'll even let you have some of this fine Midwestern warmth we're having at no extra charge, not even shipping & handling. We've got heat to burn, don'tcha know!! 8^)

Be well, and please come back happy. Say "hey" to Mr. Knight and Mr. Day for me, ok? ;^)

  2. Hello Aneet-

First of all I hope you enjoy your vacation. It's always nice to break one's routine and recharge for a while isn't it? Secondly what a great picture of you in the bathing suit and hat. Again, it's something that calls for a Marc Breslow closeup.

I love the picture of the fog. We're so lucky that we're not sweltering like the rest of the country. Again Aneet, I hope you enjoy your vacation and anxiously wait the return of your posts at the end of the summer. I'm sure there will be beautiful pics and inspiring descriptions.

Best wishes and warm regards as always,

    Joseph

  4. Joseph,

Lovely to hear from you. So glad you like my "Breslow worthy" photo :) and the scene of fog. Yes, we are fortunate to be avoiding the inferno, at least for now.

I enjoy the cadence of your words. Sending good wishes your way, ~ Aneet

  6. Hello Jonathan,

I'm so glad you like the photo. I enjoyed cropping it and the effect of the sepia tone.

I really appreciate your well wishes. I hope you and your kitties are finding a way to keep cool.

I'll have one more post to come before vacation. After that, I'm sure I will have blog withdrawls :)

  9. Aneet,

Have a wonderful vacation. I will miss your weekly posts, but yes we all need some R&R! Enjoy, enjoy.

I love your fog pictures...such mystery in the fog...I've always been drawn to the fog for, yes, mysterious reasons. Some people complain about limited visibility...but I love it.

That is a great picture of you by the way!

    Safe travels...

    Best wishes,
    Tom

  10. Tom,

So nice to hear from you, as always. I still have one more post to go before I venture off.

I know what you mean about the fog. Mystery is the perfect word. And particularly when you don't have fog all the time, it's a moody change of pace.

So glad you like the photo Tom. I enjoy the fact that you are a viewer.

    My Regards, ~ Aneet

  12. Roger, hello, hello,

What a beautiful environment you describe. I'm so happy to hear that you too are taking some leisure time. I know that you deserve it. And I'm glad to know that it's a long stint, not just a weekend getaway. Your parents, a castle, sleeping 'til noon -- what could be more perfect?

After my next post at the end of the week, this blog will be on summer re-runs :)

My Warm Regards, Roger, ~ Aneet

  13. Oh Aneet:

Mention of your Lady Gaga reminded me that the real Lady Gaga is this week's guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance! Can't miss it!

  16. Yessir, that pic of you is a perfect illustration of one of my all-time favorite songs - my man Jimi's "FOXEY LADY."

Great song, great pic; what more do ya need?

  20. Hi Aneet-Those are some great photos to warn us of your absence. I especially like the photo of you. You have a knack for great photos of yourself!
August was a packed month for me too. September will be just as packed-and it started with some fog.
Random question:Are there any small animals named Phil Collins, Debbi Peterson, or Angelo Santaniello? Just thought I might ask.
    Yours,
    Joe

  21. Hello Joe,

Thanks for your kind comments. Sorry I've been slow to answer. Computer problems and other complications have cut into my time.

I know Phil Collins, of course, but the other two you've mentioned don't ring a bell.

Sending good wishes your way, Joe, ~ Anitra
