On this Fourth of July weekend...

with the sun shining brightly, and the sky, a blue swath above, I'm thinking about this blog, now one year old. I'm also thinking about the two sides of Anitra. The person she used to be: passionate, driven, dedicated to her career, and the person she is now, after 35 years of going deeper, beyond the image in the mirror.

Today, I'm a woman who has found a certain freedom in learning to blend into the crowd and whose greatest happiness comes from living in the here and now. In this blog, I dance between the two Anitras, grateful for both the preset and the past. And, on this weekend, I'm especially grateful for my freedom to experience and express the full range of who I am. I'm also grateful for you Dear Readers, for the ways in which you contribute. Your presence opens my eyes to what's around me and illuminates my days.

Wishing you a bountiful and inspired Fourth of July, ~ Aneet

  3. Happy 4th Aneet,

I'm glad to see the blue skies you're experiencing over the gray.

Just got back from a nice summer family BBQ. In between the helpings of food, I tried to teach the children how to swing a wiffleball bat. It's amazing how it brings back memories of my childhood.

Within the first year of your blog, I've enjoyed all of your posts. Everything from your Holiday postings to that custard strip from Solvang.

Your reference to the two Anitras is interesting. You live Anitra and we see Anitra. You and I look at the two Anitras from different angles. Love the Anitra from TV and movies but also love the Anitra who shares her inner self with those that know of her and now through the amazing internet, can now actually in some way, know her.

OK, before I end up writing a book, I will stop here.

    Best to you........

  4. Hi Jonathan,

So enjoy getting the picture of your lifestyle: your BBQ and wiffleball with the kids. So glad and honored that you contribute to this blog!

Your reference to the custard strip made me chuckle.

And yes, the two Anitras, I guess we would see this from different angles. I always appreciate your perceptions. They're interesting and thought provoking.

Wishing you sunny skies and happy days, ~ Aneet

  8. Hello Jonathan,

Thanks for asking about my web page. I really want just a simple page with a title, a few photos, some type of quote and a link to my blog. I'm working with a computer person on it, and what I think is simple, is not translating quickly. And, given that it's not a high priority for me, it will likely take a long time before this one page is clarified.

Meanwhile, Jonathan, Happy Independence Day!! ~ Aneet

  11. Anitra,

I second Roger's comments wholeheartedly!! As I have mentioned before, over the years I often wondered how you were and what you were doing after having made such an impression on my life.

I don't know what made you decide to leave the limelight, but it's obvious that it was the right thing for you to do for your own personal happiness.

I am glad that you can look back and appreciate where you were then, and where you are now, and be happy and fulfilled with all of your choices. Not everyone can do that.

I am especially grateful that I, as well as everyone else who posts here, have the opportunity to communicate with you and express the difference that you have made in our lives.

    Is this sappy enough?? :-)

  12. Just curious...how often are you recognized?? I can't imagine you simply blending into the crowd!! Whether people know who you are or not, I'm sure that you always stand out!!

  13. Mark,

It's so nice to hear from you. I hope that the sun has been shining where you are. I really appreciate your words, Mark. Sometimes I'm amazed at how fresh and alive those experiences and performances in the 70s still are. I'm delighted and sometimes surprised that what I did has reached people. As I've shared here before, and especially in regards to Price, I always felt so connected to the audience. I think this must have come through to certain viewers.

I appreciate your kind words and well wishes, Mark, it's very generous of you.

As far as being recognized is concerned, I notice that this changes depending on what city I'm in. Santa Barbara is a very aloof place when it comes to celebrity. People tend to mind their own business and not pay a whole lot of attention to others. I have said that in Santa Barbarra, the city is the only star.

I don't think people recognize me. I do think that the very nature of being tall, slim and standing straight, does, at times cause people to take note. When I'm in LA, where people are constantly expecting to see "Someone," I feel people looking at me a great deal there.

I hope this answers a bit of your question. I could definitely write an essay on this subject. One thing I want to add is that I gain a lot of time and energy by dressing down and being low key.

Again, Mark, I so enjoy hearing from you. Sending my well wishes your way, ~ Aneet

  14. Aneet,

Finally, we're getting some sunshine!! Really makes a difference!!

This has nothing to do with anything we've discussed on this post, but friends on Facebook are "Wonder Woman" fans and posted in regards to an original pilot filmed in 1967, which made me think of the 1974 TV movie with you and Cathy Lee Crosby, so I just had to watch your scenes today on You Tube. Just want to tell you how much I love it!! The movie is pretty bad, but you are great as Ahnjayla!! Wish they'd put it on DVD!!

Speaking of the original 1967 pilot, it was produced by 20th Century Fox and those responsible for "Batman". I heard that you were in an episode of that show. Is that true?? If so, I'll have to look for it!!

  15. Good Morning Mark,

So glad to hear that the sun is shining for you! That's such a treat, especially when it's rare.

As for the Wonder Woman, the 1974 pilot really missed the target. Glad you liked my part in it though. I've had a couple of other viewers tell me that they liked that performance. I had hoped to get the title role, couldn't believe they made WW a blonde. And then, there was that clunky WW costume. What were they thinking?

As far as the old Batman TV show, boy, it was during a very different era of my career, before I'd landed any speaking roles. They had a Rudi Gernreich fashion show in one of the episodes, and I was one of the models. It went quite fast, and I don't recall any close-ups. I've tried to find a way to view it again, but so far I've had no luck. It was done at a rare time when I had short hair.

Thanks so much, Mark, for your feedback. Wishing you lovely days :) ~ Aneet
