November Skies

After six months of steady fog -- November has brought with it new clarity. Along with greater visibility, have come the long shadows of autumn and deep lush color in the sea and sky. For two weeks, Santa Barbara's sunsets have been mesmerizing, delivering ten minutes of luminous lavender descending into coral and gold.

Dear Cherished Readers, I plan to post on Thanksgiving and then again on the 20th of December. Hope to see you then, ~ Aneet

  3. Hello Aneet-

Those are some absolutely beautiful shots. We haven't been getting sunsets like those along this stretch of the coast, usually the fog is rolling back in by the late afternoon.

I've enjoyed the overall cooler weather this fall and feel very fortunate that it has not been filled with Santa Ana winds, 90 degree temperatures, and wildfires as in years past. Also the cooler weather has been a blessing for an insomniac like me, as it is much more conducive for sleeping.

I look forward to your Thanksgiving post, as I know it will be highly profound.

Best wishes and regards as always,

    Joseph

  4. Joseph hello,

Lovely to hear from you. Glad you like the photos. It's interesting to know that your skies in L.A. have been different from ours this season. I agree with you, I will gladly live with fog in order to avoid the fire season.

I'm happy that the weather is being kind to you Joseph. Sending my good wishes your way, ~ Aneet

  5. Good Morning Aneet,

As always, these are an array of beautiful Autumn photos. Our scenery here in the Northeast isn't quite as picturesque.

My favorite shot is the one in the middle of the palms and the moon crescent. It's very similar to the one you recently had in the side bar.

I remember your last post of Thanksgiving was a decoration around a pumpkin pie. I'm sure looking forward to this one!

    Best of everything to you.....Jonathan

  6. Beautiful pics as always, Luv. Intriguing that you captured the purple twilight in the second pic - that's always been my favorite time of day because it's so beautiful and {usually} peaceful. Reminds me of an early morning radio show I used to listen to years ago; it always started with "It's eight past the hour, and the night has separated from the day" {or vice-versa, in this case}.

Were there just a touch of fog in the pic, it would also be an excellent illustration of my favorite Jimi Hendrix song, "Purple Haze."

    Lovely!!!

    Be well, Luv.

    Chris

  7. Hello Anitra,

You have a new fan to add to your list! My name is Thalia and I'm 19 I recently saw your movie the invasion of the bee girls. I did some more research on who you were and saw videos from your T.P.I.R. days! I was super excited to find out that you have this blog site. I love the photographs you have taken, the lighting is exquisitely perfect in each photo. I myself have always been fascinated with art and poetry from a young age and I appreciate your creative eye for photography. Thank you for taking time out of your day to share with us. I hope you have a wonderful day!

    -Thalia :)

  8. Jonathan, hello, hello,

Nice to hear from you. Hope that life is treating you well. Glad you like the photos. You have a good eye. The shot last month of the crescent moon, was taken at the same location, but a month earlier. The colors this month have intensified.

I'm so glad you remember last year's Thanksgiving post. I really enjoyed assembling that image. It took me quite a long time to get it the way I wanted it. I don't have the same amount of time this year, but I had an image appear that I think (hope) will be just right.

Sending good wishes your way Jonathan, ~ Aneet

  9. Chris, hello,

Hope things in your life: your job, etc., are going well. I enjoy your imagination and your poetic input. "The night has separated from the day..." really lovely.

That lavender effect in the sky doesn't last very long, a matter of minutes at the most. And yes, Jimi Hendrix -- an icon of the sixties.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us Chris. Sending you my regards, ~ Anitra

  10. Thalia,

It's so nice to receive your bright and effervescent words. It's fascinating how the Internet connects us. You have such an interesting name (one of the muses from Greek mythology), it's fitting that you would be attracted to art.

I'm so glad that you happened upon my blog Thalia -- welcome!

    Sincerely, ~ Anitra

  13. Anitra,

Thank you so very much for responding to my post and within the same day! You truly made my night and now I'm refreshed to keep writing my essay (one of my many late nights as a college student). It is very amazing how the internet can connect us with each other. Who would have ever thought I would be having a conversation with Ms Anitra Ford! I'm happy that you know the history behind my name most people don't, and tell me that the spelling is wrong. Yes, she was the muse of comedy, poetry, and song. My mother picked the perfect name for me because my personality and who I am is, very much who she was. Thank you for your warm welcome Anitra!

    -Thalia :)

  14. Thalia,

Hello. So nice to hear back from you and to be filled in a bit more on who you are. Obviously you're a very creative (an productive person). My guess is that you act, sing, write and perhaps dance, and that you have a very promising future.

Sending my good wishes your way, ~ Anitra
