Greetings from Charles -- with blog revisions

Dear Cherished Readers,

My time away from the blog has brought changes and new perspective. I've recently received a writing assignment, which will include travel and, of course, time. I now realize just how much time creating my blog has required. And I see that it's simply not possible to generate the time I need to keep this blog going as it has been.

During this time away, I have thought of you all, those of you who comment often: Roger, Jonathan, Joseph, Mark, Bitsey, Tom, and so many others. It's been a fantastic experience to have met and interacted with you all and to have revisited my past.

I am a person who lives in the present and rarely thinks about her past. But in this process of sharing myself here, my past has resurfaced and I have been so surprised to find how alive and vibrant it still is.

I also enjoy sharing my experiences with you, especially the personal tidbits of prose and a particular moment captured in a photograph. The photos I post take an inordinate amount of time. George Bernard Shaw, who was not only a great writer, but also an avid photographer, said, "Photography is like the cod that lays two-thousand eggs in hopes that one will hatch." Photography is definitely like that for me. Over the past year, in creating this blog, the photos alone: taking them, editing them and posting them On-line, has involved many hours of every day.

I want to keep the blog going, but I must simplify my posts and comments at least through the first of the year. My plan is to post just once a month, on the 20th, beginning next week.

It's lovely to be back in this arena. My warm wishes to you all. Welcome, welcome, ~ Anitra

  1. Hello Aneet!

Welcome back, and I hope you enjoyed your vaction. It appears to have been rather inspiring. Congratulations on your new project, and I'm sure it will be a highly insightful piece of writing.

Great photo of you with the tropical plants, and the different reflections of you, "The 3 Faces of Anitra". =) It's been a rather reflective summer for me as well and I have learned a great deal about myself and have worked on personal shortcomings. And just this week I have finally rejoined the ranks of the working population after a long, tiring, and often painful search. While it was not exactly what I was looking for, I think where I'm at now will help lay the foundation for where I want to be in the future.

Glad to have you back, and good luck on your future endeavors.

    Regards as Always,

    Joseph

  2. Congratulations on your new perspective and best of luck with all you're trying to do. Lord knows I've not been the most prolific poster, here, but know, as well, that your posts and, especially, your photographs have engendered a wealth of introspection within me. Truth be known, I sensed from your recent posts that you might be undergoing a crisis of faith, as it were. That's understandable since we humans are adapted to change. It seems your intuition and necessity have dictated that you need to go in a slightly different direction. It may sound trite, I fear, but I support you in that. A change is as good as a rest, as they say. Good luck to you and success! I hope the future is everything you hope it could be. Should you choose to post from time to time, I pledge that I will read those posts and that I, in fact, look forward to them!

  4. Dave, hello, hello,

I'm so glad to know that my photographs have reached you. As you know, your comments have inspired and taught me in the past.

I think my crises is more one of time rather than faith. It is a challenge to want to do more than time allows.

    I so appreciate your words.

    Thank you Dave, ~ Aneet

  5. A few more words to Joseph and Dave,

Though I'm trying my best to keep my responses shorter and more terse, I have more I need to say. Joseph, I'm so impressed with all the work you've done and what you've weathered and endured. I need to express a heartfelt "CONGRATULATIONS!"

And, as a sideline, I'm also glad that you liked the mirrored photograph:)

Dave, whether you post a comment or not, it's all okay. No guilt trips here. Your presence is clearly felt.

    Again, my regards, ~ Aneet

  6. Hi Aneet,

Welcome back, it's great to see another post and congratulations on your writing assignment. Love that picture of yourself. That 3-D affect is cool.

That shot of Charles has him looking very majestic.

Life has changed for me as well. I just moved from the south shore of Long Island to the north shore. Moving sure does take a lot out of you! With all this going on, spent yesterday in the hospital with kidney stones. My 6th attack,YIKES!

All in all, glad you're back and even though you will be posting only once a month, it is totally understood why and appreciated by all.

All the best of luck with your new endeavors,

    Jonathan

  8. Jonathan,

Super to hear from you! So glad you like the photo. It's so much fun to photograph in that location with all of those reflections. You never know what you'll get.

Congratulations on your new location. Moving is a monumental chore. And with all of your pets as well. That has to be a real challenge. I'm curious as to what the difference is between the two locations.

As you can see (at least for the moment) I've given up trying to shorten my messages. But I will continue to try and perhaps one of these days become more successful.

Really sorry to hear about the kidney stones. I have heard that they are horrifically painful.

Sending good wishes and healing thoughts your way.

    Sincerely, ~ Anitra

  9. Joseph,

I want to say that he cadence of your words these days sounds particularly eloquent. And to address your current comment, you are more than welcome :) ~ Aneet

  10. Aneet,

The western part of the south shore of Long Island has changed more than any other part of the island. It has become more and more populated with people moving across from Brooklyn and Queens and now has a feeling more urban than rural. It's also on more flat ground where the north shore is more hilly and above sea level. The north shore also is less populated and has more of a country like feeling. Property here is first to rise and last to drop as opposed to the south shore which is the opposite.

I do love warm, sunny weather and because of that, just might end up in a sun belt state. We will see what the future holds.

    Best, Jonathan

  11. Jonathan,

Thanks for your clarification on the difference between the North Shore and the South. Very interesting and good to know. You've obviously made a wise choice with your new home. It sounds lovely and serene.

Once again, my good wishes to you, ~ Aneet

  12. What, I can't get through to wish you well, ask ya not to be a stranger, or shamelessly plug my own mess here on Bloogger? Or did my previous comment just vanish into the ether?? Inquiring minds, and all that.

  21. Hello Aneet,

A wonderful surprise to check your blog today and see that you're back!

I've come to look forward to each new post...it's a chance to "get to know you" via long distance cyberspace...a chance that I feel very fortunate to have. It's fascinating to see the world through your eyes (and lenses)...and always inspiring to read your words...your kindness and wisdom always shines through. Always! Your recent absence made me realize how much I missed that little moment of happiness to launch the blog and see your latest post.

But with all that said, I certainly understand there's not enough time in the day for every thing! I will be very happy to check back once each month, this I promise. I'm pleased that you've found a way to make it work for you...after all, this blog should give you as much joy as you send out to me and others.

Congratulations and good luck on your new writing project.

    Best wishes always,
    Tom

  26. Aneet,

Thank you for your kind words! I did briefly consider a journalism career, before I entered the "practical" world of business. But I'm at a point in my life when I'm now considering more creative pursuits. So who knows! Your comment about me writing professionally is an inspiring boost at just the right time - truly!!! From your lips..., as they say...

My wife Mary sends her best wishes to you also! She thinks it's great we have connected by cyberspace...it is kind of amazing when you think about it, isn't it?

    Tom
