Wearin' O' the Green in Santa Barbara

can be seen today in the jewelry and fingernails of my grocery bagger and on the concrete statue of a great Dane. For years, this life-sized replica, on the corner of Mission Street and Garden, has been saluting every holiday, be it Easter, Christmas or Girl Scout's Day, by wearing a colorful, whimsical costume.

  1. Anitra,"Top of the morning to you!" Did you know where that saying originated? It was actually New Zealand. By the way, that dog looks like the real deal. At a quick glance,I thought that was a dog wearing a real St. Patrick's Day outfit. Great photography on your part as usual!

  4. Hi Mark,

Always good to hear from you. Looking at the grocery bagger's hand, once again, I can see what you mean. I hadn't thought of the comparison. What a charming observation! Thanks :)

  5. Green certainly is a beautiful color. I was driving around the Palos Verdes peninsula yesterday and the hillsides are covered in different shades of green. That's why I love this time of year.

And Anitra, I'm sure you gave your grocery bagger feedback on how to model that beautiful ring. =)

    Regards,

    Joseph

  6. Yes, California is wonderfully green right now, which is lovely to look at, but not so great for allergies. And, at this very moment, it's raining.

On the jewelry and fingernails, actually, my feedback was quite brief. I was hoping for something more like ballet hands, but didn't want to hold up the checkout line.

So nice to hear from you, Joseph.

  9. These are some great photos! I always see that dog statue whenever I am in town driving to my parents house. Such a staple in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. I especially love it during the Christmas season! Always dressed to impress! If you are looking for a good and budget friendly hotel I recommend the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Really affordable and the location is great!
